Putt18 2024 AMA Tournament #1

Recap/Results

Much like our November 2023 Putt18 virtual event, the winner was decided on the last day. David Gomm played on the Thursday of the week-long event and set the standard with a -22 including a tournament-low round of 60. Within hours later that same day, Tom Loftus shot a -18. Those scores would remain the top two attempts with a flurry of action through Friday night.

Then on Saturday afternoon, Kyle Courcy stepped up to the mat from his house in Maine and crushed it with a four-round total of -25 including a first-round -10. This would stand as a handful of new and returning players finished off their rounds into Saturday evening.

While no world records were tied this time around, we had many notable moments from this event:

  • Tim Ochnikowski of Access Mini Golf competed in his first competitive event on Putt18 and shot a -6 in his first round

  • The 23 total competitors is our high turnout for a Putt18 AMA scoring event

  • 4 competitors under the age of 15 & 2 women competitors

  • 3rd different AMA Putt18 event winner. 2023 winners were David Gomm & Gary Shiff

  • David Gomm of the UK is the only person to have a top 3 finish in all 3 AMA Putt18 events

Event Details

The 1st 2024 AMA Putt18 Mat tournament will be played Sunday, March 17 (12:01am) through Saturday, March 23rd (11:59pm central US time).

All competitors will stream their play live in the AMA Events Facebook Group so if you are an AMA member be sure to join that group to see some of the videos of people playing on the mat. We’ll be sharing videos on the rules in advance for those unfamiliar with playing on the mat.

Each competitor will play 4 rounds (72 holes) in succession at a time they announced in advance in the Facebook group. We’ll be utilizing the most current rules from World Pro League from Series 13 with a few differences. The unique variations are that players will be allowed to play rounds with a set of 3 USGA conforming golf balls if they opt not to use the Putt18 branded balls that come with the mat. The 3 balls must be identical in brand, year, and model. Players will need to clearly show that the balls are all identical and conform to the camera before they stream their rounds if they opt to use balls other than the Putt18 branded balls. Additionally, there will be no time limit for players completing their 4 rounds.
