Walkabout Mini Golf VR 2025 AMA Virtual Scoring Event

Event Details

The best virtual reality mini golf game, Walkabout Mini Golf, will once again provide a virtual scoring opportunities for AMA points for 2025. This will be the only virtual event on Walkabout for 2025. We will not have an event to close the season like we did in previous years. We will use a similar process as our November 2024 Walkabout event.

We once again go with the 2 round format where players will play two rounds in succession in the stroke play format. First one round on a randomly selected easy course and then one round on a hard course.

The courses will be selected live on the evening of Monday, April 7th live on Walkabout in the private room AMA. AMA organizers Tom Loftus and others will be present. We will include courses released to the public through Mount Olympus but omit the following courses: Meow Wolf, Ice Lair, and Upside Town. We will NOT use low gravity mode for any of the courses that have that as an option. Once the courses are selected, we’ll update this event page with information on the courses.

For the competitive point-scoring event, we will have one AMA organizer or handpicked room host in a room either playing and/or observing the play to confirm people showed up on time and participated within the rules. Rules and expectations will be shared in advance in the AMA events group. We’ll collect screenshots of the results from each group and those will be the official scores.

These are currently the times we’ll have available.

Sat. April 12 - 4pm CT | 22:00 UTC

Sat. April 12 - 6pm CT | 00:00 UTC (4/13)

Sat. April 12 - 8pm CT | 02:00 UTC (4/13)

Sat. April 12 - 10pm CT | 04:00 UTC (4/13)

Sun. April 13 - 8am CT | 14:00 UTC (4/13)

Sun. April 13 - 12pm CT | 20:00 UTC (4/13)

Sun. April 13 - 2pm CT | 22:00 UTC (4/13)

To play, you’ll need to let us know your AMA membership name and your handle (aka name) on Walkabout via this google form. This will ensure we properly attribute points to members. You can also use the AMA Events Facebook group or message one of the AMA organizers with questions but we would like everyone to use the google form. We will only attribute points to those who opt-in before the event and let us know their screen names. All players must be active AMA members before they play their rounds. Points are based on the 2025 scoring rubric.

28th Annual M.C. Mini Masters

  • Congo River, Kristof's & American Action Territory (IL/WI) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Tournament Details

AMA Scoring: White (2025 Scoring Details)

This is the 28th anniversary of the M.C. Mini Masters, the annual day-long mini golf tournament hosted by Season 1 Holey Moley winner and world record holder, Mick Cullen.

This annual day of mini golf is 6 rounds each held on different 18 hole courses in Southern Wisconsin & Northern Illinois starting at 8 am and will go until around 10:30 pm. We’ll include more detailed notes on the tournament format, rules, and more closer to the date but we have provided some information for players who haven’t played this tournament previously.

Confirmed Schedule
1. 36 holes at Congo River in Hoffman Estates, IL (18 at Congo Rapids, 18 at Congo Falls)

2. 18 holes at Kristof’s Entertainment Center in Round Lake Beach, IL (course built by Castle Golf)

3. 54 holes at America’s Action Territory in Kenosha, WI (18 holes at Wisconsin Adventure, 18 holes at Wild West, 17 holes on Lost Falls + portable 18th hole used in past years at Par-King to replace playing the #13 on the Lost Falls course)

$65 entry fee, payable at paypal.me/mcminimasters Fee includes all 6 rounds of mini golf as well as some snacks and beverages throughout the day.

Details on the history of the M.C. Mini Masters and previous scores at www.mcminimasters.net

There is no cash purse but there will be a variety of trophies and prizes for the top overall scores, top scores on each course, and many other categories.

Here are some things to be aware of if you’re one of this year’s rookies.

1) No practice time on tournament courses. There is no chance to get acclimated to the holes or try anything out before it counts. Get your practice in on previous days if it’s a must for you. Given the format of this tourney and the fact that all these courses are open to the public, fitting in practice time on tourney day isn’t an option.

2) Standard golf balls only—no Euro-style minigolf balls allowed. Either use house balls or your own commercially available golf balls.

3) If an entire group elects to do so, they may all take their first shot on each hole before anyone putts out to finish. If three people in a group want to do that and one doesn’t, the one player who wants to complete the hole can just play first and putt out before the others take their tee shots.

4) We will use a shotgun start on the first five courses and start from hole #1 with groups paired based on scores from the first 5 rounds. We will have free cold drinks available for you (3 per person available for the day) and there is a nice seating area available.

5) One hole on each course is designated as a Wacky Hole! Every putt on that hole must be made in an unusual way (e.g., backward between your legs) or using an unusual implement (e.g., hockey sticks instead of putters). This is designated in advance for each Wacky Hole and is not optional. Everyone’s in the same boat, and this helps us to remember that it’s just mini golf, and it’s supposed to be fun (and funny)!

6) The 13th hole on the Lost Falls course at American Action Territory doesn’t function very well. It gives very random results and is likely to slow down play considerably. Given this, we will use the homemade portable mini golf hole that was used in past years at Par-King for the 18th hole as a substitute for Hole #13 on the Lost Falls course. The rest of the holes on all of other courses will be played.

A tentative schedule that includes a break for lunch will be forthcoming closer to the tournament date. Many people go to dinner together afterward as well.
