Walkabout Mini Golf VR 2025 AMA Virtual Scoring Event

Results

For the first time in an AMA Walkabout Mini Golf VR event, we have a new top finisher all by themselves. Matt Roalstad shot one off his personal best and the best of the tournament on Atlantis (easy) with a -26. Jorge Rimblas shot a “how in the world did you do that” type score on Tourist Trap (hard) with a -24 to take the low round on that course and 2nd place. Mick Cullen gets a podium again in a Walkabout event with a -39. In their 2nd AMA events for Walkabout, Les Bowes and Mark “Highlighter” Novicki landed in the top 5.

We had 4 entries into AMA Walkabout events with Chris Opper of The Red Putter, Joey Diprima, Yacob Bean, and Griffin Weiss.

Well done to all who participated, showed up, and had a little fun during our only April event. This is the only Walkabout event for 2025, but we plan on having one again in 2026.

Event Details

The best virtual reality mini golf game, Walkabout Mini Golf, will once again provide a virtual scoring opportunities for AMA points for 2025. This will be the only virtual event on Walkabout for 2025. We will not have an event to close the season like we did in previous years. We will use a similar process as our November 2024 Walkabout event.

We once again go with the 2-round format, where players will play both rounds in succession, using stroke play scoring.

The courses were selected live on the evening of Monday, April 7th. AMA organizers Tom Loftus and Mick Cullen landed on the random selection of Atlantis for the easy course and Tourist Trap for the hard course. We will NOT use low gravity mode for Atlantis.

Alantis (easy) - Part of the Lost Cities and an underwater theme. Top scores expected in the mid to upper -20s.

Tourist Trap (hard) - One of the original courses released nearly 5 years ago. Near or better than -20 will be a great finish on this course.

For the competitive point-scoring event, we will have one AMA organizer or handpicked room host in a room either playing and/or observing the play to confirm people showed up on time and participated within the rules. Rules and expectations will be shared in advance in the AMA events group. We’ll collect screenshots of the results from each group and those will be the official scores.

These are currently the times we’ll have available.

To play, you’ll need to let us know your AMA membership name and your handle (aka name) on Walkabout via this google form. This will ensure we properly attribute points to members. You can also use the AMA Events Facebook group or message one of the AMA organizers with questions but we would like everyone to use the google form. We will only attribute points to those who opt-in before the event and let us know their screen names. All players must be active AMA members before they play their rounds. Points are based on the 2025 scoring rubric.
